What Cable One, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
Cable One, Inc. (NYSE: CABO) is a leading broadband communications provider serving approximately 1.0 million residential and business customers across 24 Western, Midwestern and Southern states through its Sparklight brand. The company operates a fiber-based and hybrid fiber-coaxial network infrastructure with capacity of 750 megahertz or higher and DOCSIS 3.1 capabilities throughout its systems, serving approximately 2.9 million passings as of December 31, 2025.
The company generates substantially all revenues through three primary product lines. Residential data services represent the largest revenue segment at 60.1% of total revenues, followed by business data services at 15.3% and residential video services at 12.5%, with the remainder from residential voice and other services. Residential data and business data services combined represented 75.3% of total revenues in 2025. Cable One offers residential customers download speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second across all passings, with multi-Gigabit service available in 53% of markets. The company provides business customers with speeds ranging from 1 Gigabit per second over hybrid fiber-coaxial networks to 100 Gigabit per second symmetrical speeds over dedicated enterprise fiber.
Cable One became an independent public company on July 1, 2015, following its spin-off from Graham Holdings Company. Since its independence, the company has completed multiple acquisitions including NewWave in 2017, Clearwave and Fidelity in 2019, Valu-Net in 2020, and Hargray in 2021, substantially expanding its geographic footprint and customer base. The company maintains strategic investments in several broadband-centric providers serving non-urban markets, including equity interests in Point Broadband Holdings, Clearwave Fiber, Nextlink, Visionary Communications and others.
The company's strategy emphasizes focus on non-metropolitan markets, prioritization of higher-margin residential and business data services over declining video services, continuous cost leadership through operational efficiency and digital transformation initiatives, and disciplined capital allocation. Cable One operates with a decentralized management structure where local teams maintain decision-making authority while benefiting from centralized corporate support and best practices.
