Founded as an independent company on July 1, 2015, following its separation from E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, Chemours operates 28 major production facilities across eight countries and serves approximately 2,400 customers in roughly 110 countries. The company's website is www.chemours.com.
Chemours operates through three principal reportable segments: Thermal & Specialized Solutions, Titanium Technologies, and Advanced Performance Materials. The Thermal & Specialized Solutions segment is a global leader in refrigerants, thermal management solutions, propellants, foam blowing agents, and specialty solvents, with a heritage dating to the commercial introduction of Freon in 1930. This segment is particularly focused on sustainable low global warming potential refrigerants under the Opteon brand. The Titanium Technologies segment manufactures titanium dioxide pigment under the Ti-Pure brand, used to deliver whiteness, brightness, and opacity in applications including coatings, plastics, and packaging. The company operates three TiO2 production facilities with approximately 1.1 million metric tons of annual nameplate capacity, along with four mineral sands mines and two separation facilities in Florida and Georgia. The Advanced Performance Materials segment provides high-end polymers and advanced materials sold under the Teflon, Viton, Krytox, and Nafion brand names, serving electronics, semiconductors, transportation, energy, and medical markets.
The company's competitive advantages include deep expertise in fluorine chemistry and materials science, proprietary manufacturing technologies, extensive intellectual property portfolios, and long-standing customer relationships spanning decades. As of December 31, 2025, Chemours owned 3,892 granted patents and 1,757 pending applications globally, along with 1,667 trademark registrations.
