What Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCO) is a leading provider of out-of-home advertising solutions in the United States, operating through two primary reportable segments: America and Airports. The company connects advertisers with millions of consumers monthly by leveraging a diverse portfolio of high-traffic public spaces, including roadside billboards, street furniture, and airport displays. As of December 31, 2025, Clear Channel Outdoor operates more than 48,200 displays across 28 U.S. designated market areas through its America segment and more than 12,700 displays across more than 60 commercial airports through its Airports segment, making it one of the largest out-of-home advertising companies in the U.S. with presence in 43 of the top 50 U.S. markets.
The America segment, which contributed 75 percent of revenue from continuing operations in 2025, generates revenue primarily through selling advertising on roadside billboards and other out-of-home displays, with most advertising sold in four-week periods. The Airports segment, contributing 25 percent of revenue, offers advertising opportunities targeting travelers at key touchpoints throughout their journeys in printed, digital, and experiential formats. In 2025, the company generated approximately 1.6 billion dollars in combined revenue from these segments.
Clear Channel Outdoor's business model emphasizes technological innovation and data-driven solutions. The company operates RADAR, a proprietary suite of data-driven solutions that leverages anonymized and aggregated mobile location data to help customers create customized, measurable campaigns. Digital displays, while representing approximately 8 percent of inventory, generated 44 percent of revenue in 2025, reflecting the attractive revenue economics of the growing digital portfolio. The company also maintains a programmatic advertising platform enabling automated, real-time transactions.
The company employs approximately 1,900 people, with roughly 1,700 based in the United States. Clear Channel Outdoor's competitive advantages include regulatory barriers to entry in traditional roadside advertising, exclusive airport contracts, deep operational expertise, and strong relationships with landlords and local governments. The company maintains its website at investor.clearchannel.com. In February 2026, the company entered into an agreement to be acquired by an investor consortium comprised of affiliates advised by Mubadala Capital in partnership with TWG Global, with the transaction expected to close by the end of the third quarter of 2026.
