(NYSE: CNO) operates as a holding company for a group of insurance subsidiaries that develop, market, and administer health insurance, annuity, individual life insurance, and other insurance and financial services products. The company maintains its website at www.CNOinc.com and focuses on serving middle-income pre-retirees and retired Americans through a diversified product portfolio and multi-channel distribution strategy.

CNO's business is organized around three primary insurance product lines: annuities, health, and life insurance, complemented by investment and fee income segments. During 2025, the company collected total premiums of $4.6 billion, with annuities representing 42 percent of collections, health products comprising 36 percent, and life insurance accounting for 21 percent. The annuity segment includes fixed indexed annuities, fixed interest annuities, and single premium immediate annuities. The health segment encompasses supplemental health insurance, Medicare supplement coverage, and long-term care products. Life insurance offerings include both traditional and interest-sensitive products.

The company operates through two primary sales divisions: the Consumer Division and the Worksite Division. The Consumer Division serves individual consumers through exclusive agents, independent producers, and direct-to-consumer channels via television, digital, and online marketing. As of December 31, 2025, the Consumer Division maintained approximately 4,600 exclusive producing agents operating from roughly 230 branch and satellite offices nationwide. The Worksite Division focuses on voluntary insurance benefits sold in workplace settings through approximately 400 exclusive agents and independent producers, offering supplemental health and life insurance products to businesses, associations, and membership groups.

CNO markets its products under three primary brands: Bankers Life, Washington National, and Colonial Penn. The company maintains insurance licenses across all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and certain U.S. protectorates. Geographic concentration shows significant premium collections from Florida, Iowa, Texas, California, and Pennsylvania.

CNO's investment operations are managed by 40|86 Advisors, Inc., a wholly owned registered investment advisor subsidiary that manages the insurance subsidiaries' investment portfolios. As of December 31, 2025, the company reported total assets of $38.8 billion and shareholders' equity of $2.6 billion. The company traces its origins to a bankruptcy reorganization that became effective on September 10, 2003, succeeding Conseco, Inc., which had been organized in 1979.
