The company, founded in 1965 and headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, maintains an international network of coordinated offices throughout the Americas, Europe, and Australia. Its website is www.crai.com.

The firm delivers consulting services across two primary business areas: litigation, regulatory, and financial consulting, and management consulting. In its litigation and regulatory practice, CRA advises clients on complex matters including antitrust litigation, damages and valuation disputes, financial accounting issues, forensic investigations, intellectual property matters, labor and employment disputes, mergers and acquisitions regulatory approval, transfer pricing, and securities litigation. The management consulting division helps corporations address strategic, organizational, and operational challenges through services in corporate and business strategy, enterprise risk management, environmental and energy strategy, intellectual property and technology management, organization and performance improvement, and transaction advisory services.

As of January 3, 2026, CRA employed 959 consultants, consisting of 164 officers, 563 senior staff members, and 232 junior staff. Approximately 79 percent of senior staff hold advanced degrees, with 51 percent holding doctorate degrees. The company maintains close working relationships with a select group of non-employee experts from leading academic institutions and industry.

CRA's business is diversified across multiple dimensions including service offerings, vertical industry coverage, functional expertise areas, client base, and geography. The firm maintains particular expertise in blockchain and cryptocurrency, communications and media, consumer products and health, energy, entertainment and leisure, financial services, healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing and industrials, natural resources, retail and distribution, technology, and transportation. The company has completed thousands of engagements for multinational corporations, law firms, government agencies, and trade associations worldwide. No single client accounted for more than 10 percent of revenues in any recent fiscal year. Approximately 17 percent of consolidated revenues derived from fixed-price contracts, with the remainder from time-and-materials engagements.
