What Dauch Corp does
In the company’s own words
Dauch Corporation, trading as NYSE: DAU, operates as a premier global supplier of driveline and metal forming components to the automotive industry. The company maintains its website at www.dauch.com and serves customers across 24 countries with more than 175 locations worldwide.
The company operates through two primary business segments: Driveline and Metal Forming. The Driveline segment supplies axles, driveline systems, and related components for electric, hybrid, and internal combustion engine vehicles. The Metal Forming segment represents the largest automotive forging operation globally, providing engine, transmission, driveline, and safety-critical components for light, commercial, and industrial vehicles. In 2025, General Motors accounted for approximately 44 percent of consolidated net sales, Ford represented 15 percent, and Stellantis comprised 13 percent of revenues.
As of December 31, 2025, prior to completing its transformational acquisition of Dowlais Group plc in February 2026, Dauch employed approximately 18,000 associates globally, with roughly 5,000 in the United States and 13,000 at non-U.S. locations. Approximately 76 percent of the company's 13,000 hourly associates are represented under collective bargaining agreements.
The company traces its origins to American Axle & Manufacturing of Michigan, with the current entity established through a migratory merger in 1999. A significant acquisition of Metaldyne Performance Group in 2017 expanded the company's metal forming capabilities. The February 2026 acquisition of Dowlais Group plc, which included GKN Automotive and GKN Powder Metallurgy, substantially increased the company's scale and diversified its product portfolio through the addition of complementary driveline products including sideshafts.
Dauch maintains competitive advantages through vertical integration, with its Metal Forming segment supplying critical components to its Driveline operations, ensuring supply chain continuity. The company operates advanced technology centers including the Advanced Technology Development Center in Detroit, the Rochester Hills Technical Center in Michigan, the European Headquarters and Engineering Center in Langen, Germany, and an Innovation Center in Mexico. The company has committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 and established a goal to source 100 percent renewable energy globally by 2035, having already achieved this target for U.S. operations by year-end 2025.
