Opportunity Bank of Montana, founded in 1922 as a building and loan association, converted to a Montana-chartered commercial bank in 2014 and became a member of the Federal Reserve System. The bank operates 30 full-service branches and 32 automated teller machines across Montana, with administrative offices in Helena. The institution provides comprehensive loan and deposit services to small businesses and individuals throughout the state.
The bank maintains a diversified lending portfolio focused on residential mortgage loans, commercial real estate loans, commercial business loans, agricultural loans, and home equity products. As of December 31, 2025, commercial real estate and commercial business loans represented approximately 79.18 percent of total loans. Residential 1-4 family mortgage loans comprised 9.78 percent of the portfolio, while agricultural production and commercial business loans each represented significant portions. The bank originates residential loans both for portfolio retention and for sale in the secondary market with servicing retained, generating substantial noninterest income from mortgage servicing fees.
Eagle Bancorp has pursued a growth strategy through strategic acquisitions, including the acquisition of First Community Bancorp in April 2022, which added nine retail branches and two loan production offices. Prior acquisitions included Western Holding Company of Wolf Point in January 2020, Big Muddy Bancorp in January 2019, and TwinCo in January 2018, expanding the company's market presence across Montana.
