Encompass Health Corporation (NYSE: EHC) operates inpatient rehabilitation hospitals that provide intensive, specialized care to patients recovering from major injuries or illnesses, including strokes, hip fractures and neurological conditions. Its clinical teams combine nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapy with physician-directed care; most patients are referred from acute-care hospitals. The company receives payments from government programs, managed care plans, private insurers and patients, with Medicare and Medicare Advantage accounting for approximately 82% of revenue in 2025. Encompass Health reports inpatient rehabilitation and other revenue, rather than multiple reportable business segments. At December 31, 2025, it operated 173 hospitals in 39 states and Puerto Rico, and employed more than 42,000 people. Net operating revenue was $5.94 billion for 2025, including $5.76 billion from inpatient rehabilitation. More than one-third of its hospitals operate as joint ventures with acute-care hospitals or health systems, supporting referral relationships and care coordination.
