What Energy Vault Holdings, Inc. does

In the company’s own words

Energy Vault Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: EVVTF) is a Delaware corporation that delivers a diversified portfolio of energy storage solutions to third parties, including proprietary gravity, battery, and green hydrogen-based technologies supported by technology-agnostic energy management software and integration capabilities. The company's website is energyvault.com.

Beginning in 2024, Energy Vault initiated a multi-year transition from primarily delivering projects through build-and-transfer arrangements and licensing models toward a more integrated model that includes selectively developing, owning, and operating energy storage assets while continuing to provide technology, integration, software, and long-term services to customers. The company's energy storage solutions span multiple durations and use cases, including renewable integration, peak capacity support, ancillary services, and resiliency applications.

The company's core product portfolio includes B-VAULT, an electrochemical battery energy storage system designed for short-duration needs typically ranging from one to four hours; G-VAULT, a proprietary gravity energy storage system addressing longer-duration multi-hour shifting applications; and H-VAULT, hybrid energy storage systems integrating hydrogen fuel cells with battery storage for customer-specific resiliency requirements. Energy Vault also offers proprietary software solutions including VaultOS Energy Management System for real-time monitoring and operational control, Vault-Bidder for dispatch and revenue optimization using artificial intelligence, and Vault-Manager for asset performance visibility and insights.

In 2025, Energy Vault launched Asset Vault, a majority-owned subsidiary dedicated to developing, building, owning, financing, and operating energy storage projects, supported by a $300 million preferred equity commitment from Orion Infrastructure Capital. The company placed its first two owned energy storage systems into commercial operation in 2025, including Cross Trails Battery Energy Storage System in Texas and Calistoga Resiliency Center in California. Energy Vault also acquired Stoney Creek Battery Energy Storage System in Australia and SOSA Energy Center in Texas, expanding its owned project portfolio.

The company serves utilities, independent power producers, developers, and commercial and industrial customers globally, with geographic focus including North America, Europe, and Australia. Energy Vault also pursues commercialization pathways through licensing and royalty arrangements in international markets including India.
