The company's banking operations trace back to 1890 when Farmers and Merchants National Bank opened in Abilene, and the holding company was formally established in 1956. The company website is www.ffin.com.

First Financial Bank, the company's primary subsidiary, operates 79 financial centers across Texas, with significant presence in Central, North Central, Southeast and West Texas markets. The bank maintains regional operations through eight banking regions, each guided by local advisory boards and regional presidents who make decisions at the community level. The company also operates mortgage loan offices in Austin and Addison, along with trust offices in nine Texas locations.

The company's service offerings include general commercial banking with checking and savings accounts, commercial and consumer lending, automated teller machines, remote deposit capture, internet and mobile banking, and customary banking services. First Financial Trust & Asset Management Company provides full-service trust and wealth management activities, including personal trust services, estate administration, oil and gas management, farm and ranch management, and retirement and employee benefit account administration. The company has provided trust services since 1927.
