What FormFactor, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
FormFactor, Inc. is a leading provider of electrical and optical test and measurement technologies serving the semiconductor industry across the full product lifecycle, from characterization and design debug through qualification and production test. The company maintains its website at www.formfactor.com.
Founded in 1993 and introducing its first product in 1995, FormFactor has grown through strategic acquisitions to establish itself as a comprehensive test and measurement solutions provider. The company operates through two reportable segments: Probe Cards and Systems. The Probe Cards segment generates the substantial majority of revenues and includes sales of probe cards and analytical probes, while the Systems segment encompasses probe stations, thermal systems, and cryogenic systems.
FormFactor's probe card technology utilizes advanced micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and proprietary design tools to create custom solutions for each customer's unique chip design requirements. The company's probe cards can maintain tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of simultaneous high-fidelity electrical contacts and support testing at millimeter-wave frequencies exceeding 80 gigahertz. Analytical probes serve diverse applications including device characterization, electrical simulation model development, and failure analysis. Probe stations provide highly configurable measurement solutions for semiconductor development and characterization. The company also manufactures thermal subsystems for precise temperature management and cryogenic systems for applications requiring temperatures near absolute zero, including quantum computing research.
FormFactor serves semiconductor integrated device manufacturers, foundries, fabless companies, universities, and research institutions globally. Key customers include major semiconductor manufacturers testing logic, DRAM, flash memory, display, sensor, and quantum computing devices. As of December 27, 2025, the company employed 2,153 regular full-time employees distributed across North America (1,553), Asia (325), and Europe (275). Primary manufacturing facilities are located in Livermore and Beaverton in the United States, with additional operations in Japan and Germany. The company maintains repair and service capabilities across multiple locations in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific region to support its global customer base.
