Franklin Electric Co., Inc. (NASDAQ: FELE) operates as a global leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of water and fuel pumping systems. The company maintains its headquarters and research facilities in Fort Wayne, Indiana and operates through a network of over 240 manufacturing and distribution facilities across more than 20 countries, serving customers worldwide with approximately 6,500 employees.
The company's business is organized into three reportable segments. The Water Systems segment, representing approximately 60 percent of total revenue, designs and manufactures submersible motors, pumps, electronic controls, water treatment systems, and monitoring devices for groundwater, water transfer, and wastewater applications across residential, agricultural, municipal, and industrial markets. The Energy Systems segment produces fuel pumping systems, fuel containment systems, and monitoring controls for petroleum equipment applications, as well as intelligent electronic devices for power utility, hydroelectric, rail, and telecommunications infrastructure. The Distribution segment operates through the Headwater Companies, a collection of wholly owned groundwater distributors serving the U.S. professional groundwater market.
Franklin Electric was founded in 1944 and incorporated in 1946, pioneering the first water-lubricated submersible motor for water systems and the first submersible motor for fueling systems. The company has expanded its capabilities through strategic acquisitions, including the 2023 acquisition of Action Manufacturing & Supply, Inc. for water treatment systems, and 2025 acquisitions of PumpEng Pty Ltd., an Australian manufacturer of submersible pumps for mining, and Barnes de Colombia S.A., a Colombian industrial and commercial pump manufacturer.
The company's competitive positioning rests on product quality, delivery timeliness, service excellence, and continuous innovation. Franklin Electric generates approximately 25 to 30 percent of Water Systems revenue from developing markets, which it views as significant growth opportunities. The company maintains a global footprint with significant operations in Europe, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, India, China, Turkey, Canada, and Argentina, alongside substantial U.S. operations. With 2025 revenue of approximately $2.1 billion, Franklin Electric serves diverse customer bases including specialty distributors, original equipment manufacturers, industrial equipment distributors, and major oil and utility companies.
