The company was founded in 2011 with a mission centered on providing flexible and affordable diagnostic and genetic testing services designed to improve patient care and quality of life.
The laboratory services business represents the company's established revenue driver, offering comprehensive anatomic pathology testing services including gastrointestinal, dermatologic, urologic, breast, neuro, and hematopathology services. The company also provides precision diagnostics through next-generation sequencing tests for rare disease, hereditary cancer, reproductive health, and specialized oncology services utilizing flow cytometry, cytogenetic analysis, FISH, immunohistochemistry, and molecular genetics. The laboratory operates CLIA-certified facilities across multiple U.S. states including California, Texas, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Arizona, as well as in Australia. Fulgent also operates Picture, a patient-centric telemedicine platform enabling consumers to initiate testing and access clinical support, and provides BioPharma services including contract research and sponsored testing programs for pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
The therapeutic development business, conducted through Fulgent Pharma following the 2022 acquisition, focuses on developing cancer treatments using a novel nanoencapsulation and targeted therapy platform. Current development efforts include FID-007, a nanoencapsulated paclitaxel in Phase 2 clinical trials for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, and FID-022, a nanoencapsulated SN38 in Phase 1/1b trials. The company also pursues antibody drug conjugate development using proprietary linker and payload platform technology.
The company's proprietary technology platform incorporates gene probes, data algorithms, artificial intelligence learning software, and proprietary laboratory information management systems.
