The company's portfolio consists of four primary brands: Old Navy, a North American value apparel brand founded in 1994 offering on-trend fashion at accessible price points; Gap, a globally recognized casual American style brand established in 1969 that also operates collections including GapKids, babyGap, Gap Maternity, GapBody, and GapFit; Banana Republic, a premium brand founded in 1978 and acquired by Gap Inc. in 1983 that offers expertly crafted collections; and Athleta, a premium performance lifestyle brand for women and girls acquired in 2008 and certified as a benefit corporation. The company also offers private label and co-branded credit card programs and an integrated loyalty program called Encore designed to enhance customer engagement and lifetime value.

As of January 31, 2026, Gap Inc. operated 2,474 company-operated stores across the United States, Canada, Japan, and Taiwan, supplemented by approximately 1,000 franchise store locations across roughly 35 countries. The company maintains a global workforce of approximately 79,000 employees, with approximately 82 percent located in the United States and 18 percent outside the U.S., primarily in Canada and Japan. Approximately 84 percent of employees work in retail locations, 8 percent in distribution centers, and 8 percent in headquarters roles.
