The company's largest business segment involves automotive rearview mirrors and electronics, accounting for 89 percent of consolidated net sales. Gentex manufactures interior and exterior electrochromic automatic-dimming rearview mirrors utilizing proprietary electrochromic technology, along with advanced electronic features including HomeLink wireless vehicle-to-home communications, Full Display Mirror digital displays, driver and cabin monitoring systems, and various telematics solutions. The company supplies these products globally to original equipment manufacturers, automotive suppliers, and aftermarket customers, serving major automakers including BMW, Daimler, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Renault, Stellantis, Tesla, Toyota, and Volkswagen, as well as Chinese manufacturers including NIO, Xpeng, and Great Wall Motors.
Following the April 2025 acquisition of VOXX International Corporation for $148.3 million, Gentex expanded into premium audio products including Klipsch, Onkyo, and Integra brands, as well as automotive aftermarket electronics and consumer electronics distribution. The company also manufactures variable dimmable windows for Boeing 787 and 777X aircraft and Airbus commercial aircraft. Fire protection technologies include photoelectric smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms, and signaling devices, complemented by the newly launched PLACE smart home safety system featuring room-specific functionality.
