In the Automotive segment, Gentherm designs, develops, manufactures and sells Climate Control Seats, Climate Control Interiors, Lumbar and Massage Comfort Solutions, Valve Systems, and Climate and Comfort Electronics. The company's medical segment provides patient temperature management systems utilizing air, water and resistive technologies for applications including hyper-hypothermia therapy, normothermia in surgical procedures, and acute and chronic care warming and cooling therapies. Core brands include Blanketrol and Astotherm in the medical division.
Gentherm's core technologies encompass thermal management through resistive heater technologies including proprietary carbon fiber Carbotex elements, air moving devices offering scalable blower solutions, pneumatic solutions based on shape memory alloy valve technology, and advanced valve systems for fluid and gas regulation. The company holds 382 issued patents as of December 31, 2025, including 181 U.S. patents and 201 non-U.S. patents.
The company operates in more than 30 locations across 13 countries with a global workforce of approximately 14,174 employees as of December 31, 2025. Major manufacturing locations include Mexico, China, North Macedonia, Ukraine, Vietnam, and Morocco. Gentherm's automotive products are found on light vehicles manufactured by nearly all major original equipment manufacturers in North America and Europe and several major OEMs in Asia. For 2025, the company's two largest customers were Lear Corporation and Adient plc, representing 16 percent and 11 percent of product revenues respectively. Top OEM customers included Volkswagen and General Motors, each representing 12 percent of product revenues.
In January 2026, Gentherm entered into definitive agreements with Modine Manufacturing Company to combine through a Reverse Morris Trust transaction, whereby Modine will spin off its Performance Technologies business and merge it with Gentherm.
