Inspire Medical Systems, Inc. (NYSE: INSP) is a medical technology company focused on developing and commercializing minimally invasive solutions for patients with obstructive sleep apnea. The company's website is located at InspireSleep.com.
The company's core product is the Inspire system, a proprietary closed-loop neurostimulation technology that represents the first FDA-approved treatment of its kind for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea. The Inspire system consists of implantable components including a neurostimulator, stimulation lead, and respiratory sensing capability, along with a patient remote control. The device delivers mild electrical stimulation to the hypoglossal nerve to maintain an open airway during sleep. Physicians have treated more than 125,000 patients with Inspire therapy across the United States, Europe, and Asia.
Inspire operates through a direct sales organization in the U.S. and select European markets, with 295 U.S. sales territories and 21 territories outside the U.S. as of December 31, 2025. The company also sells through distributors in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Thailand. The company maintains a dedicated market access team focused on reimbursement, prior authorization, coding, and coverage with third-party payors.
The Inspire system received FDA premarket approval in 2014 and has been commercially available in certain European markets since 2011. The company also received expanded FDA indications in 2023 for pediatric patients with Down syndrome and increased the upper AHI limit to 100 events per hour.
Clinical evidence supporting the Inspire system includes the STAR trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine, more than 385 peer-reviewed publications, and the ADHERE global patient registry which achieved its target enrollment of 5,000 patients in 2024.
