Kennametal Inc. (NYSE: KMT) is a global industrial technology leader with more than 85 years of materials expertise, founded in 1938 based on a tungsten carbide technology breakthrough and incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1943. The company operates through two reportable segments: Metal Cutting and Infrastructure. The Metal Cutting segment develops and manufactures high-performance tooling and metal cutting products and services for diverse end markets including General Engineering, Transportation, Aerospace & Defense, and Energy. The Infrastructure segment produces engineered tungsten carbide and ceramic components, earth cutting tools, and advanced metallurgical powders primarily for Earthworks, General Engineering, Energy, and Aerospace & Defense markets. Kennametal markets its products under the Kennametal, WIDIA, WIDIA Hanita, and WIDIA GTD brands through direct sales forces, independent and national distributors, integrated supplier channels, and digital platforms.

As of June 30, 2026, the company employed 8,073 people, including approximately 2,500 in the United States and 5,600 in other parts of the world, principally Germany, India, and China. Approximately 2,100 employees were represented by labor unions. During fiscal 2026, the company generated 57 percent of consolidated sales in markets outside the United States, with principal international operations in Western Europe, China, and India, along with manufacturing and distribution facilities in Israel, Latin America, South Africa, and Vietnam.

The company's core expertise encompasses the development and application of tungsten carbides, ceramics, super-hard materials, and solutions used in metal cutting and extreme wear applications. Kennametal's product offerings span metal cutting and wear applications including turning, milling, hole making, tooling systems and services, specialized wear components, and metallurgical powders. End users include manufacturers in transportation, machine tools, aerospace, and energy sectors. The company maintains a competitive position through premium brand recognition, global presence, application expertise, advanced manufacturing capabilities, consistent quality, and multiple sales channels.
