What Kulicke and Soffa Industries, Inc. does

In the company’s own words

Kulicke and Soffa Industries, Inc. is a global leader in semiconductor assembly technology founded in 1951 and headquartered with principal offices in Singapore and Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. The company operates at www.kns.com and designs, develops, manufactures and sells capital equipment, consumables and services used to assemble semiconductor devices including integrated circuits, power discretes, light-emitting diodes and sensors.

K&S serves integrated device manufacturers, outsourced semiconductor assembly and test providers, foundry service providers and other electronics manufacturers and automotive electronics suppliers. The company's primary business segments include Ball Bonding Equipment, Wedge Bonding Equipment, Advanced Solutions and Aftermarket Products and Services, with the APS segment historically demonstrating lower volatility than equipment-focused segments as it ties more directly to semiconductor unit consumption rather than capacity requirements.

The company operates manufacturing facilities in Singapore, the Netherlands, Taiwan and China, with research and development centers and technology support resources distributed globally across locations including Israel, Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, India, Germany, Mexico, Switzerland and the United States. As of October 4, 2025, K&S employed 2,551 full-time employees and 41 temporary workers worldwide.

K&S maintains competitive advantages through technology leadership in wire bonding processes, including copper wire bonding, and advanced packaging solutions for emerging markets such as chiplet-based assemblies and heterogeneous integration. The company's product portfolio includes the RAPID and RAPID Pro smart bonder series, PowerFusionPS and Asterion wedge bonding systems, AT Premier PLUS wafer-level packaging solutions, and advanced packaging platforms including APAMA, APAMA Plus and APTURA systems. Recent product launches include ACELON, a precision dispensing solution for semiconductor and automotive assembly applications.

Approximately 90.5 percent of net revenue derives from shipments to customer locations outside the United States, primarily in the Asia-Pacific region, with approximately 53.5 percent of revenue from customers headquartered in China. The company maintains ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications across its manufacturing facilities and operates under a business continuity management plan designed to facilitate prompt resumption of operations following disruptive events.
