What LEXICON PHARMACEUTICALS, INC. does

In the company’s own words

Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: LXRX) is a biopharmaceutical company headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas with a mission to pioneer medicines that transform patients' lives. The company's website is www.lexpharma.com.

Lexicon's primary focus is on the research and development of innovative drug candidates and the commercialization of approved therapeutics. The company's lead commercial product is INPEFA (sotagliflozin), an oral tablet approved in the United States in May 2023 to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization for heart failure, and urgent heart failure visits in adults with heart failure or type 2 diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and other cardiovascular risk factors. Lexicon maintains a small virtual contract sales force for INPEFA and sells primarily through major wholesalers and regional distributors.

The company's clinical pipeline includes sotagliflozin in development for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, with the Phase 3 SONATA-HCM trial currently enrolling approximately 500 patients. Lexicon is also pursuing regulatory approval of ZYNQUISTA (sotagliflozin) for type 1 diabetes, with ongoing proceedings following complete response letters from the FDA. Pilavapadin, an oral small molecule candidate for neuropathic pain, has completed three Phase 2 clinical trials and received Fast Track designation from the FDA for diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain treatment.

Lexicon has established strategic collaborations with major pharmaceutical companies. In March 2025, the company granted Novo Nordisk an exclusive, worldwide license to develop and commercialize LX9851 for obesity and associated cardiometabolic disorders. In October 2024, Lexicon licensed sotagliflozin to Viatris for development and commercialization outside the United States. The company maintains a long-standing drug discovery alliance with Bristol-Myers Squibb in the neuroscience field, from which pilavapadin originated.

The company does not operate its own manufacturing facilities, instead relying on multiple contract manufacturing organizations for production of INPEFA and clinical supplies of drug candidates. Lexicon was incorporated in Delaware in 1995 and listed on Nasdaq in 2000. The company operates as a smaller reporting company and is classified as a non-accelerated filer.
