What Liberty Capital Corp does
In the company’s own words
GCI Liberty, Inc. (NASDAQ: GLIBA, GLIBB, GLIBK) operates as a leading integrated communications services provider in Alaska through its wholly owned subsidiary GCI Holdings, LLC. The company was separated from Liberty Broadband Corporation in 2025 through an internal reorganization and subsequent distribution to Liberty Broadband shareholders, establishing GCI Liberty as an independent publicly traded entity.
GCI Holdings provides a comprehensive portfolio of data, wireless, voice, and managed services to residential customers, businesses, governmental entities, and educational and medical institutions throughout Alaska. The company operates advanced, diverse communications networks utilizing fiber, microwave, and satellite technologies to serve both urban and remote Alaskan communities. Data services represent the largest revenue segment at seventy-one percent, followed by wireless services at twenty-four percent, with other services comprising the remaining five percent of revenue.
The company maintains significant infrastructure assets including redundant and geographically diverse digital undersea fiber optic cable systems linking Alaska's terrestrial networks to carriers in the lower forty-eight states, a statewide wireless network providing fifth generation and fourth generation Long Term Evolution services, and dedicated internet access with managed services capabilities. GCI Holdings serves approximately one hundred eighty rural health care providers, two hundred thirty-five schools, and one hundred thirty-nine thousand rural wireless residents through participation in federally subsidized universal service programs.
GCI Liberty's business model leverages its integrated network approach to maximize asset utilization and create operational efficiencies through bundled service offerings. The company benefits from Alaska's unique market characteristics, including harsh winter weather and remote geographies that create substantial customer reliance on reliable communications infrastructure. GCI Holdings holds various federal licenses for wireless spectrum, satellite and microwave transmission facilities, and submarine cable landings, along with federally registered service marks and utility patents pertaining to device diagnostics and network connectivity.
The company's competitive advantages include its established market position as Alaska's leading integrated communications provider, extensive proprietary network infrastructure, participation in universal service subsidy programs, and demonstrated capability to develop and deploy new products and services. GCI Liberty maintains relationships with Liberty Broadband and Liberty Media through various service and support agreements established during the separation process.
