MainStreet Bank is a Virginia-chartered commercial bank that opened for business in 2004 and currently operates seven branches located in Herndon, Fairfax, McLean, Clarendon, Leesburg, and Middleburg, Virginia, as well as Washington, D.C. The bank serves the Northern Virginia region and greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, focusing on retail customers, small to medium-sized businesses, and professional service organizations.

The bank's core business involves attracting deposits and originating commercial, mortgage, and consumer loans. Its loan portfolio is diversified across commercial business lending, owner-occupied and investment commercial real estate, real estate construction, residential real estate, and consumer installment lending. Commercial real estate represents the largest segment, comprising approximately 54.4 percent of the portfolio when combining owner-occupied and investment properties. The bank also maintains an investment portfolio consisting of U.S. government securities, mortgage-backed securities, municipal obligations, and subordinated debt of other financial institutions.

As of December 31, 2025, MainStreet Bancshares reported total consolidated assets of $2.21 billion, total net loans of $1.8 billion, and total deposits of $1.9 billion. The company employed 171 full-time employees as of year-end 2025.

The company distinguishes itself through its community banking philosophy, emphasizing local decision-making and personalized service. It was the first community bank in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area to offer full online business banking solutions and the first Virginia-headquartered bank to offer CDARS deposit insurance services. MainStreet Community Capital, certified as a community development entity by the U.S. Treasury Department in 2022, focuses on providing capital and financial services to economically distressed areas within the company's geographic footprint, supporting affordable housing, small business development, and community revitalization initiatives.
