The company operates through its website at www.manitowoc.com and serves customers worldwide through a diversified portfolio of crane brands and aftermarket services.
The company designs, manufactures, and distributes a comprehensive range of lifting equipment across three primary product categories. Lattice-boom crawler cranes sold under the Manitowoc brand serve heavy construction, infrastructure, and energy projects. Tower cranes marketed under the Potain brand address commercial and residential construction needs, with offerings including top-slewing, self-erecting, and specialized models. Mobile hydraulic cranes sold under the Grove, Shuttlelift, and National Crane brands provide versatile lifting solutions across rough-terrain, all-terrain, truck-mounted, and industrial applications.
The company operates through three geographic reporting segments: the Americas, Europe and Africa (EURAF), and Middle East and Asia Pacific (MEAP). Approximately 50 percent of net sales are generated in the United States, with the remaining sales distributed internationally across multiple continents. Manitowoc operates nine manufacturing facilities globally and employs approximately 4,700 people across more than 20 countries.
Beyond equipment sales, Manitowoc provides extensive aftermarket services including parts distribution, field service and maintenance, technical support, erection and decommissioning services, crane remanufacturing under the EnCORE brand, specialized upfitting through Upfits by Aspen Equipment, training, and telematics solutions. The company operates over 17 full-service branch locations in North America and 17 service locations across Europe, supported by more than 500 technicians globally.
The company's strategic transformation, articulated through the CRANES+50 initiative launched in 2021, focuses on transitioning from a product-centric to a customer-centric business model emphasizing higher-margin aftermarket services and rental operations. This strategy is supported by The Manitowoc Way, a continuous improvement business system rooted in kaizen principles. The company maintains a robust new product development pipeline and has introduced numerous new crane models since 2021 across its product lines.
