MaxLinear, Inc. is a fabless semiconductor design company headquartered in Carlsbad, California. The company's website is www.maxlinear.com.
MaxLinear designs and markets communications systems-on-chip, or SoCs, that integrate radio frequency, high-performance analog, mixed-signal, digital signal processing, security engines, data compression, networking layers, and power management functionality. The company's core competency lies in combining analog and mixed-signal circuits with complex digital signal processing in complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor, or CMOS, technology, enabling highly integrated solutions with exceptional performance, low manufacturing cost, and reduced power consumption compared to competing approaches.
The company serves four primary markets: data center infrastructure, where its optical transceivers connect servers and storage within hyperscale data centers; 5G wireless infrastructure, where its radio transceivers support base-station and backhaul applications; broadband access, including modems for coaxial, fiber, fixed wireless, and digital subscriber line technologies; and connectivity and industrial applications, encompassing Wi-Fi routers, home networking gateways, and industrial automation products.
MaxLinear's customers include electronics distributors, module makers, original equipment manufacturers, and original design manufacturers that incorporate the company's products into a wide range of electronic devices. The company maintains a global sales organization with direct sales personnel in the United States, Europe, and Asia, supplemented by third-party sales representatives and distributors. As of December 31, 2025, MaxLinear employed approximately 786 research and development personnel across engineering design teams located in California, Singapore, China, Taiwan, India, Germany, Israel, and Spain.
The company operates as a fabless manufacturer, outsourcing wafer fabrication to independent foundries including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation and United Microelectronics Corporation, with assembly and test services provided by specialized subcontractors. Products shipped to Asia accounted for 82 percent of net revenue during the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025, with significant portions destined for European and North American markets through Asian original design manufacturers and contract manufacturers.
