What MBX Biosciences, Inc. does

In the company’s own words

Molecular by Evolution is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing, and commercializing novel precision peptide therapies for endocrine and metabolic disorders. The company was founded by global leaders in peptide drug design and development and operates its proprietary Precision Endocrine Peptide (PEP) platform, which is engineered to overcome key limitations of existing peptide therapies by optimizing pharmaceutical properties including extended time-action profiles, consistent drug concentrations with low peak-to-trough ratios, and less frequent dosing requirements.

The company's pipeline includes three primary programs. Canvuparatide, its lead product candidate, is a parathyroid hormone peptide prodrug designed as a long-acting hormone replacement therapy for chronic hypoparathyroidism, with Phase 2 trial results demonstrating achievement of primary endpoints and a planned Phase 3 initiation in the third quarter of 2026. The obesity portfolio includes MBX 4291, a long-acting GLP-1 and GIP receptor co-agonist prodrug designed for potential once-monthly dosing with improved efficacy and tolerability compared to existing treatments, currently in Phase 1 development with results expected in 2027. Imapextide, a long-acting GLP-1 receptor antagonist, is being developed for post-bariatric hypoglycemia as a potential once-weekly therapy, with Phase 2a results anticipated in the second quarter of 2026.

The PEP platform incorporates proprietary tools including innovative peptide design, programmable prodrug technologies, and fatty acylation to achieve extended duration of action and improved clinical outcomes. The company's scientific foundation builds upon expertise originally discovered at Indiana University's laboratory of a globally recognized endocrine pharmacology researcher.

Molecular by Evolution operates as a smaller reporting company and is classified as an emerging growth company. The company has not yet generated revenue from product sales and continues to incur significant losses as it advances its clinical development programs. The company estimates that chronic hypoparathyroidism affects approximately 120,000 people in the United States and more than 250,000 in the United States and Europe, while obesity affects an estimated 190 million adults in the United States who are obese or overweight.
