What Moelis & Co does

In the company’s own words

Moelis & Company (NYSE: MC) is a leading global independent investment bank providing strategic and financial advisory services to corporations, financial sponsors, governments, and sovereign wealth funds. The company operates through its primary advisory platform, delivering comprehensive solutions across mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations and restructurings, capital markets transactions, and other corporate finance matters. Founded in 2007 and publicly listed since April 2014, Moelis & Company has established itself as a prominent player in the independent advisory space, distinct from larger financial conglomerates by maintaining a focused advisory model without significant lending, trading, or underwriting operations.

The firm maintains over 20 offices globally across North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia, serving clients across all major industry sectors including Technology, Industrials, Healthcare, Energy, Infrastructure, Consumer & Retail, Financial Institutions, Media, Sports & Entertainment, Telecommunications, and Real Estate. As of February 4, 2026, the company employed 1,416 professionals, including 1,014 advisory professionals and 178 Managing Directors. The company has advised on over 5.5 trillion dollars of transactions since inception.

Moelis & Company's business model emphasizes intellectual capital and conflict-free advisory through a discretionary compensation structure that encourages collaboration rather than commission-based incentives. This approach enables the firm to operate with lower capital requirements and attractive profit margins compared to competitors offering broader financial services. The company maintains strategic alliances, including a 50-50 joint venture with MA Financial Group Limited in Australia and New Zealand, and a strategic alliance with Alfaro, Dávila y Scherer in Mexico.

The firm's competitive positioning derives from its globally integrated platform combining local expertise with international market knowledge, deep industry specialization, high standards of confidentiality and discretion, and a diversified advisory platform with no meaningful revenue concentration. The company website is www.moelis.com, where investors can access financial reports and company information through the Investor Relations section at http://investors.moelis.com.
