OFG Bancorp (NYSE: OFG) is a financial holding company headquartered in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with its principal subsidiary being Oriental Bank, a Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation-insured Puerto Rico commercial bank founded in 1964. The company operates through three reportable segments: Banking, Wealth Management, and Treasury.
The Banking segment represents the core of OFG's operations, encompassing comprehensive retail and commercial banking services delivered through branches throughout Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as select loan products in the continental United States. Banking activities include commercial, consumer, auto, and mortgage lending, along with deposit products and corporate trust services. The Bank operates wholly owned subsidiaries including OFG USA, which conducts commercial lending from Charlotte, North Carolina, and two international banking entities that provide Puerto Rico tax advantages for offshore transactions. The Bank also owns OBPEF, a private equity fund providing financing to support Puerto Rico's economic development.
The Wealth Management segment comprises securities brokerage and investment advisory services through Oriental Financial Services, insurance agency operations through Oriental Insurance, reinsurance activities through OFG Reinsurance based in the Cayman Islands, and trust services through Oriental Trust. These subsidiaries provide integrated financial solutions including tax-advantaged fixed income securities, mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and separately managed accounts.
The Treasury segment manages OFG's investment portfolio, consisting primarily of mortgage-backed securities, U.S. government-sponsored agency obligations, Treasury securities, and money market instruments.
As of December 31, 2025, OFG employed 2,185 people across its operations. The company's principal funding source is customer deposits, which it gathers through its branch network and digital sales platform. OFG competes in the Puerto Rico banking market against traditional banks, credit unions, brokerage firms, and other financial service providers, differentiating itself through innovative banking technologies, service quality, and competitive terms.
