Ormat Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: OEC) operates as a leading vertically integrated renewable energy company engaged primarily in geothermal power generation, with expanding operations in energy storage and solar photovoltaic systems. The company's website is www.ormat.com.
The company conducts business through three reportable segments. The Electricity Segment develops, builds, owns and operates geothermal, solar PV, and recovered energy power plants in the United States and internationally, selling generated electricity under long-term power purchase agreements. The Product Segment designs, manufactures and sells equipment for geothermal and recovered energy electricity generation, including Organic Rankine Cycle power units and provides engineering, procurement and construction services for power plants. The Energy Storage Segment owns and operates grid-connected battery energy storage systems providing capacity, energy and ancillary services to the electric grid.
As of February 2026, Ormat operates 35 power plants and complexes globally with aggregate generating capacity of 1,340 megawatts, comprising 1,031 megawatts of consolidated geothermal capacity, 50 megawatts of recovered energy generation, and 200 megawatts of solar capacity. The company also operates 19 battery energy storage projects with 415 megawatts and 1,038 megawatt-hours of capacity across the United States. Geothermal power plants represent 81.3 percent of Electricity Segment generating capacity and achieved 84 percent capacity factors in 2025, significantly exceeding typical wind and solar performance levels.
The company holds substantial land positions across 34 prospects in the United States and 16 prospects internationally in Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia and New Zealand supporting future geothermal development. Ormat's geothermal power plants sell substantially all output under long-term power purchase agreements with weighted average remaining terms of approximately 14 years. The company possesses proprietary technology involving original designs of Organic Rankine Cycles and holds 182 active patents and patent applications worldwide as of December 2025, covering power units and systems for geothermal and recovered energy electricity generation.
