Founded in 1999, Proto Labs pioneered the digital manufacturing industry by radically reducing the time needed to produce injection molding prototypes through complex software that automated the manufacturing process. Over two decades, the company expanded its capabilities to include computer numerical control machining, three-dimensional printing, and sheet metal fabrication. In 2021, Proto Labs acquired 3D Hubs, Inc., rebranded as Protolabs Network, establishing a global network of premium manufacturing partners that complements its in-house manufacturing operations.
