What RXO, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
RXO, Inc. (NYSE: RXO) operates as a brokered transportation platform combining cutting-edge technology with an asset-light business model. The company's website is www.rxo.com. RXO was spun off from XPO Logistics in November 2022 and subsequently acquired Coyote, a technology-driven truckload freight brokerage business, from United Parcel Service in September 2024 for $1.038 billion.
The company's core business consists of truck brokerage services, which represent the largest component of operations. RXO connects shippers with independent motor carriers using its proprietary RXO Connect digital freight marketplace platform. The company also provides complementary asset-light services including managed transportation solutions, last mile delivery services, and freight forwarding operations encompassing ocean and air transportation, customs brokerage, and domestic services.
RXO's truck brokerage business generates robust free cash flow and high returns on invested capital by leveraging relationships with independent carriers rather than owning transportation assets. The company serves customers ranging from small businesses to Fortune 100 companies across diversified verticals including retail and e-commerce, food and beverage, industrial and manufacturing, logistics and transportation, and automotive. In 2025, the top twenty customers represented approximately 37 percent of revenue, while the top five customers accounted for 23 percent, with the largest customer representing 11.4 percent of total revenue.
The company operates with 9,218 team members as of December 31, 2025, comprising 6,906 regular employees and 2,312 temporary workers. Of regular employees, 36 percent work in hourly roles and 64 percent in salaried positions, with 36 percent female representation.
RXO's competitive advantages include first-mover technology advantage in brokerage innovation, access to massive truckload capacity through extensive carrier relationships, proprietary pricing algorithms utilizing machine learning, and experienced leadership with deep industry expertise. The company's digital platform provides real-time visibility into supply and demand, automated transaction processing, and dynamic pricing capabilities that enhance productivity and margin optimization for both shippers and carriers.
