Safety Insurance specializes in private passenger automobile, commercial automobile, and homeowners insurance, with additional offerings including dwelling fire, umbrella, and business owner policies. The company operates exclusively in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine through four insurance subsidiaries: Safety Insurance Company, Safety Indemnity Insurance Company, Safety Property and Casualty Insurance Company, and Safety Northeast Insurance Company. As of 2025, Safety Insurance held approximately 9.4% of the Massachusetts private passenger automobile market, 13.0% of the commercial automobile market, and 7.0% of the homeowners market, ranking as the fourth largest private passenger auto carrier, the largest commercial auto carrier, and the third largest homeowners carrier in Massachusetts.
