What ThredUp Inc. does

In the company’s own words

ThredUp Inc. (NASDAQ: TDUP) operates one of the world's largest online resale platforms for apparel, shoes, and accessories. The company's website is www.thredup.com.

ThredUp's mission centers on inspiring consumers to think secondhand first through a sustainable fashion business model. The platform bridges online and offline technology to facilitate the buying and selling of tens of millions of unique items. Buyers access a broad selection of resale merchandise across multiple price points, with items available at discounts up to ninety percent off estimated retail price. The seller experience emphasizes convenience, with customers ordering Clean Out Bags, filling them with unwanted items, and returning them using prepaid labels. ThredUp handles the processing, quality assurance, and resale of accepted items.

The company's differentiated operating platform combines three core capabilities: distributed processing infrastructure, proprietary software and systems, and data science expertise. ThredUp operates distribution centers in Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Texas with collective capacity exceeding seven point five million items and the ability to process more than one hundred thousand unique stock keeping units daily. The platform incorporates artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies for search optimization, personalized recommendations, and AI-powered shopping tools including Style Chat and image-based search functionality.

Revenue derives primarily from consignment sales recognized net of seller payouts, discounts, and returns, supplemented by bag fees charged to sellers. The company also offers Resale-as-a-Service solutions enabling leading brands and retailers to provide closet clean-out services and resale shops to their customers.

ThredUp divested its European operations in November 2024 through the sale of Remix US Holdings Inc., concentrating current operations exclusively in the United States. The company competes against secondhand marketplaces, large online retailers, off-price retailers, and fast-fashion platforms. As of December 31, 2025, ThredUp employed 2,132 employees and professional contractors, including 1,817 distribution center workers. The company maintains registered trademarks including THREDUP and Think Secondhand First, along with issued United States patents protecting proprietary inventions relevant to its resale operations.

Fund ownership counts N-PORT filers only, so it is a floor rather than a census — pensions, insurers and direct holders are not visible here, and the remainder is not “held by individuals”.

Fund ownership is a subset of institutional 13F ownership — the two describe overlapping populations and must not be added together.
