In the company’s own words
TriNet Group, Inc. (NYSE: TRINET) operates as a leading provider of human resources solutions for small and medium-sized businesses through its website at www.trinet.com. Founded in 1988, the company is the largest publicly traded company in the United States focused primarily on the professional employer organization business by market capitalization.
TriNet delivers comprehensive HR solutions through two primary service models: Professional Employer Organization services and Administrative Services Offering services. The PEO model represents the company's core business, operating on a co-employment basis where TriNet assumes significant employment-related responsibilities including payroll processing, tax administration, workers' compensation insurance, and access to TriNet-sponsored employee benefit plans. The ASO model, which includes the HR Plus product launched in 2025, provides payroll processing, HR administration, and compliance management without co-employment or access to TriNet-sponsored benefits.
The company's comprehensive service portfolio encompasses HR consulting expertise, benefit options including health insurance and retirement plans, payroll services, risk mitigation programs, technology platforms, and contractor and global workforce support. TriNet processes approximately seventy billion dollars in payroll and payroll taxes annually for its clients and serves approximately 323,200 worksite employees and 39,700 ASO users as of year-end 2025.
TriNet operates across multiple industry verticals including technology, financial services, life sciences, nonprofit, professional services, and main street businesses. The company's top five markets by worksite employee paid wages are California, New York, Florida, Texas, and Massachusetts, collectively representing approximately sixty-four percent of total WSE paid wages. Nearly all revenues are generated within the United States and its territories.
The company employs approximately 3,400 colleagues globally, with primary on-site centers located in Hyderabad, India; Atlanta, Georgia; and Dublin, California. TriNet generates revenue through service fees charged to PEO and ASO clients, insurance service revenues, and professional service revenues. The company maintains a strategic focus on technology investments, including artificial intelligence capabilities and next-generation cloud-based platforms designed to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
