What TWFG, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
TWFG, Inc. (Nasdaq: TWFG) operates as a leading independent distribution platform for personal and commercial property and casualty insurance in the United States. The company's website is located at TWFG.com.
Founded in 2001, TWFG has developed an innovative agency model that serves over 3,000 independent agencies and brokers across the country. The company operates through two primary business segments: Insurance Services, which accounts for 79 percent of revenue and includes over 550 exclusive Branches operating under the "Agency-in-a-Box" model plus approximately 19 wholly-owned Corporate Branches, and TWFG MGA, which represents 20 percent of revenue and encompasses over 2,750 managing general agency relationships. The Agency-in-a-Box offering provides turnkey solutions including agency management systems, insurance carrier access, training, technology platforms, and marketing support to independent agents seeking to build scalable businesses. Corporate Branches are wholly-owned operations where TWFG retains all commission income and bears all operating expenses. TWFG MGA provides independent agencies access to additional insurance carriers and specialty markets, particularly in excess and surplus lines where smaller agencies typically lack direct access.
The company maintains relationships with over 300 insurance carriers and places insurance products across personal lines including auto, home, renters, and life insurance, as well as commercial lines such as general liability, property, workers' compensation, and professional liability. While concentrated in Texas, California, and Louisiana, TWFG maintains licensing in all 50 states with physical presence in 43 states plus the District of Columbia.
Commission income comprises approximately 89 percent of total revenues, with average commission rates around 12.8 percent across the company's carrier relationships. The company employs approximately 400 people across offices in the United States and the Philippines. TWFG's business model emphasizes revenue and work sharing arrangements with independent agents, positioning itself as an alternative to both traditional captive agency models and smaller independent agencies lacking scale and carrier access. The company maintains a strong balance sheet and generates substantial free cash flow, supporting both organic growth initiatives and strategic acquisitions of agencies and specialty distribution platforms.
