Valley's business operates through two primary segments: Commercial Banking and Consumer Banking, complemented by Treasury and Corporate Other operations. The Commercial Banking segment originates commercial and industrial loans totaling approximately $11.0 billion and commercial real estate and construction loans totaling $29.2 billion, representing 21.9 percent and 58.3 percent of the total loan portfolio respectively. The Consumer Banking segment encompasses residential mortgage loans of $5.8 billion and other consumer loans of $4.1 billion, representing 11.6 percent and 8.2 percent of total loans respectively.

Valley's Wealth Management and Insurance Services Division, operating within the Consumer Banking segment, provides asset management advisory, brokerage, trust, insurance, tax credit advisory services, and private banking solutions. The company's consolidated subsidiaries include an insurance agency, a registered investment adviser, a securities broker-dealer registered with the SEC and member of FINRA, a title insurance agency, a tax credit advisory firm, and a subsidiary specializing in healthcare equipment lending and commercial equipment leases.

Valley ranks as the largest commercial bank headquartered in New Jersey and maintains the tenth competitive ranking in the New York, Northern New Jersey and Long Island deposit markets as of June 30, 2025. The company competes through a relationship-based banking model combining personalized service with innovative financial products, including traditional deposit and lending products, commercial real estate financing, asset-based loans, small business loans, equipment financing, insurance and wealth management solutions, residential mortgages, home equity products, and niche services including homeowners association banking, cannabis-related business banking, and venture banking offered nationally.
