In the company’s own words
Worthington Steel, Inc. (NYSE: WS) is one of North America's premier value-added metals processors, operating as a stand-alone publicly traded company following its separation from Worthington Enterprises on December 1, 2023. The company processes flat-rolled steel and manufactures specialized steel products for diverse industrial applications across multiple end markets.
The company's core business encompasses three primary product lines. Carbon flat-rolled steel processing involves purchasing steel coils from primary producers and processing them to precise customer specifications through pickling, specialty re-rolling, hot dip galvanizing, blanking, slitting, and cutting-to-length operations. Electrical steel laminations are precision magnetic steel components manufactured for automotive, industrial motor, generator, and transformer applications, with capabilities including stamping, heat treating, core assembly, and die casting. Tailor welded products consist of laser-welded steel blanks and aluminum tailor welded blanks designed for automotive customers to reduce weight and consolidate parts. The company also provides toll processing services for steel mills and large end-users.
Worthington Steel operates 34 manufacturing facilities across the United States, Canada, China, India, Germany, Mexico, Italy, France, Slovakia, and Switzerland, with an additional three facilities operated through its Serviacero joint venture in Mexico. As of May 31, 2026, the company employed approximately 5,400 people, with an additional 500 employees in its unconsolidated joint venture. The company serves approximately 1,500 customers across automotive, construction, machinery and equipment, agriculture, and heavy trucks sectors. The automotive industry represents the largest end market, accounting for approximately 55 percent of net sales, with the top three automotive customers representing approximately 34.5 percent of total net sales.
The company maintains a controlling interest in four consolidated operating joint ventures: Spartan Steel Coating (52 percent), TWB Company (55 percent), Worthington Samuel Coil Processing (63 percent), and the Sitem Group (52 percent), acquired in June 2025. On June 3, 2026, Worthington Steel acquired a controlling equity stake in Germany-based Klöckner & Co SE, which operates approximately 110 distribution and processing facilities.
