Fund profile

As filed in the prospectus · 2025 Q4

Depending on the proximity to its target date, which we define as the year that corresponds roughly to the year in which the investor expects to retire, the fund will seek to achieve the following objectives to varying degrees: growth, income and conservation of capital. The fund will increasingly emphasize income and conservation of capital by investing a greater portion of its assets in fixed income, equity-income and balanced funds as it continues past its target date. In this way, the fund seeks to balance total return and stability over time.

Strategy · summarised

The fund invests in a mix of American Funds across growth, growth-and-income, equity-income, balanced, and fixed income categories rather than holding securities directly. Its asset allocation shifts progressively toward fixed income and away from equities as the target date approaches, then continues to evolve for approximately 30 years after that date, gradually emphasizing income and capital conservation while maintaining some equity exposure for growth. The investment adviser periodically rebalances the underlying fund mix and may modify allocations, though it typically allows deviations of up to 10 percentage points from target weightings.
