The First Trust Nasdaq Semiconductor ETF (the Fund ) seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield (before the Funds fees and expenses) of an equity index called the Nasdaq US Smart Semiconductor TM Index (the Index ).
The fund tracks the Nasdaq US Smart Semiconductor Index, which selects 30 to 50 U.S. semiconductor and semiconductor equipment companies ranked by gross income, return on assets, momentum, and cash flow, then weights them by cash flow subject to an 8% maximum per security and a 4% cap on all others. The fund holds all index constituents and rebalances semi-annually. Because the index concentrates up to five securities at the 8% weight ceiling, the fund is concentrated in individual holdings.
