The fund seeks current income.

Strategy · summarised

The fund is a fund of funds that invests in other American Century mutual funds spanning U.S. and international equities, real estate, investment-grade and high-yield bonds, and short-term fixed-income securities, maintaining a neutral allocation of approximately 45% equities, 45% bonds, and 10% short-term investments. The portfolio managers may make modest deviations from this neutral mix in response to market conditions, which could cause allocations to diverge from the stated targets. The fund is designed for investors at or in retirement who plan to gradually withdraw account value and assumes a retirement age of 65.

The outer band is exposure held short — written against the portfolio rather than part of it, which is why it sits outside the ring and why the two are never netted into one figure.
