Union Pacific Corporation (NYSE: UNP) operates through its principal subsidiary Union Pacific Railroad Company, one of America's largest and most recognized transportation companies. The company maintains its corporate presence at www.up.com and serves as a critical link in the global supply chain by connecting 23 states across the western two-thirds of the United States through an extensive rail network of 32,889 route miles.

The Bulk segment, representing 33 percent of freight revenues, includes grain and grain products, fertilizer, food and refrigerated products, and coal and renewables. The Industrial segment accounts for 37 percent of revenues and encompasses construction materials, industrial chemicals, plastics, forest products, metals and ores, petroleum, liquefied petroleum gases, soda ash, and specialized products. The Premium segment generates 30 percent of revenues through finished automobiles, automotive parts, and intermodal container shipments, both domestic and international.

The railroad maintains coordinated schedules with other carriers to facilitate freight movement to and from the Atlantic Coast, Pacific Coast, Southeast, Southwest, Canada, and Mexico.
The company employed an average of 29,287 employees during 2025, with approximately 83 percent represented by 13 major rail unions. Union Pacific works with collective bargaining agreements subject to modification every five years under the Railway Labor Act. The company prioritizes safety, service, and operational excellence as foundational elements of its strategy, with particular emphasis on cultivating a safety-focused culture and investing in workforce development, training programs, and competitive compensation structures designed to attract and retain qualified personnel across its extensive transportation network.
