The business

Installed Building Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: IBP) operates as one of the nation's largest installers of insulation and complementary building products for residential and commercial construction markets across the continental United States. The company maintains a national network of approximately 250 branch locations serving all 48 continental states and the District of Columbia, supported by approximately 10,400 employees. The company's website is located at installedbuildingproducts.com.

The Installation segment represents the core of IBP's business, comprising the majority of net revenue and gross profit. This segment generates revenue primarily through service-based installation of insulation and complementary building products in residential new construction, repair and remodel, and commercial construction end markets. Insulation installation comprised approximately 58 percent of net revenue for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025, with the company offering fiberglass, cellulose, and spray foam insulation materials. Beyond insulation, IBP installs shower doors, closet shelving, mirrors, garage doors, rain gutters, waterproofing, fire-stopping and fireproofing systems, and window blinds. The company estimates it holds the number one or two market position for new single-family insulation installation in more than half of its operating markets.

The Distribution segment, representing approximately five percent of net revenue, operates regional distribution businesses including AMD Distribution, Central Aluminum Supply Corporation, and Wholesale Insulation Supply, Inc., which serve diverse customer bases across multiple states. The Manufacturing segment, comprising approximately two percent of net revenue, includes Advanced Fiber Technology and Carolina Precision Fibers, which produce cellulose insulation and specialty industrial fibers from recycled materials.

IBP was formed as a Delaware corporation in 2011, though the underlying business traces its origins to 1977 with a single location in Columbus, Ohio. Since 1999, the company has completed and integrated over 200 acquisitions, establishing significant scale and geographic diversification. The company's business model emphasizes direct purchasing from manufacturers, streamlining the traditional value chain. IBP maintains strong long-standing relationships with major fiberglass manufacturers including Owens Corning, Knauf Insulation, CertainTeed, and Johns Manville. The company's top ten customers, primarily national and regional homebuilders, accounted for approximately 14 percent of net revenue in 2025.
