The business

Ouster, Inc. (NASDAQ: OUST) is a leader in sensing and perception for Physical Artificial Intelligence, enabling machines to sense, think, act, and learn independently. The company develops and sells high-performance digital lidar sensors, cameras, AI compute hardware, sensor fusion and perception software, and artificial intelligence models that power autonomous systems across multiple industries. Ouster's website is located at https://investors.ouster.com.

The company operates through four primary target markets: industrial automation, smart infrastructure, robotics, and automotive. In the industrial sector, Ouster's lidar sensors enable autonomous operation and improve worker safety on heavy machinery including automated guided vehicles, autonomous mobile robots, mining vehicles, and material handling equipment. The smart infrastructure market includes government and commercial customers using lidar for security, traffic monitoring, and crowd analytics. Robotics customers deploy Ouster sensors for autonomous navigation and collision avoidance in wheeled robots, legged robots, and drones. The automotive segment encompasses both autonomous vehicle developers and advanced driver assistance systems manufacturers.

Ouster's core technology centers on patented digital lidar architecture featuring custom system-on-chip designs with single photon avalanche diode detectors, vertical cavity surface emitting laser arrays, and proprietary micro-optical systems. The company's product portfolio includes the OS series scanning sensors, the DF series solid-state digital lidar sensors under development for automotive applications, and legacy Velodyne scanning lidar products. Following the February 2026 acquisition of Stereolabs, Ouster now offers ZED cameras and AI compute capabilities, establishing a unified sensing and perception platform.

As of December 31, 2025, Ouster employed 320 people globally, with 204 in the United States and 116 internationally. The company manufactures sensors at its San Francisco facility and partners with Benchmark Electronics and Fabrinet for higher-volume production in Thailand. Ouster maintains a global sales presence across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions, selling directly to customers and through a network of distributors. The company was founded in 2015 as Ouster Technologies, Inc., completed a business combination with Colonnade Acquisition Corp. in March 2021, and has since acquired Sense Photonics in 2021, merged with Velodyne Lidar in February 2023, and acquired Stereolabs in February 2026.
