Vanguard Extended Market Index Fund (the Fund) seeks to track the performance of a benchmark index that measures the investment return of small- and mid-capitalization stocks.
The fund tracks the S&P Completion Index, which measures small- and mid-capitalization U.S. stocks, using a sampling approach that holds a range of securities approximating the full index in terms of key risk factors and characteristics. Because the fund samples rather than holds all index constituents, its returns may diverge from those of the Target Index.
