What AIR INDUSTRIES GROUP does
In the company’s own words
Air Industries Group (NYSE American: AIRI) operates as a leading manufacturer of precision components and assemblies for the aerospace and defense industries. The company's website is located at AirIndustriesGroup.com.
Founded in 1941 to produce parts for World War II fighter aircraft, Air Industries has maintained an impeccable safety record with no known incidents of part failure leading to mission failure resulting in fatality. The company specializes in manufacturing flight-critical components including landing gears, flight controls, engine mounts, and jet engine components for large aerospace and defense prime contractors. Products are used by the U.S. Government, international governments, and commercial global airlines.
Air Industries operates through three legal subsidiaries: Air Industries Machining, Nassau Tool Works, and Sterling Engineering Company. The company maintains two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities spanning over 150,000 square feet, located in Long Island, New York, and Barkhamsted, Connecticut. All manufacturing operations are strategically conducted within the United States to ensure rigorous quality oversight and mitigate counterfeit parts risks.
The company functions as a Tier One or Tier Two supplier within the aerospace and defense supply chain hierarchy, delivering products directly to prime contractors or providing complex components to other suppliers. Key customers include RTX Corporation, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and General Electric Aerospace. Approximately 58.3 percent of 2025 net sales were attributed to military aircraft end-use, with the remainder from commercial aviation and other applications.
Air Industries' products are integral to high-profile platforms including the Pratt & Whitney Geared Turbo-Fan Engine, UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopter, CH-53 Helicopter, E-2D Hawkeye, F-35 Lightning II, F-18 Hornet, and F-15 Eagle Tactical Fighter. These platforms accounted for 79.7 percent of 2025 net sales.
As of March 2026, the company employed 160 people across manufacturing, production, quality control, administration, and sales functions. The company reported net sales of $47.9 million for fiscal 2025 with a funded backlog of $136.8 million and total unfilled contract values of $270.1 million. In February 2026, Air Industries entered into a merger agreement with Tenax Aerospace Acquisition, LLC, which would expand the company's service offerings to include special mission aviation solutions.
