What ALICO, INC. does
In the company’s own words
Alico, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALCO) is an agribusiness and land management company with a legacy spanning decades in citrus production and conservation across Florida. The company operates through two primary segments: Alico Citrus and Land Management and Other Operations. As of September 30, 2025, Alico owns approximately 49,537 acres of land across eight Florida counties—Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, and Polk—along with approximately 44,700 acres of oil, gas, and mineral rights throughout Florida.
Historically, Alico Citrus represented the company's dominant revenue stream, generating 93.8 percent of operating revenues in fiscal 2025. The division cultivates citrus trees across 39,297 gross acres to produce fruit for fresh and processed markets, with processed citrus sales accounting for 96.0 percent of citrus revenues. However, in January 2025, Alico announced a Strategic Transformation to wind down its citrus division following the 2024-2025 harvest due to persistent challenges from citrus greening disease and environmental factors. In May 2025, the company terminated its agreements with Tropicana, previously its largest customer representing 87.2 percent of consolidated revenue.
Land Management and Other Operations, which contributed 6.2 percent of revenues in fiscal 2025, encompasses grazing and hunting leases, conservation activities, rock mining royalties, and diversified farming operations across 10,240 gross acres. Following the Strategic Transformation, this segment is expected to grow significantly as the company repositions approximately 25 percent of its land holdings for strategic development opportunities while maintaining approximately 75 percent for diversified agricultural ventures.
The company employs 20 full-time employees as of September 30, 2025, following a workforce reduction of up to 172 employees approved in January 2025 in connection with the Strategic Transformation. Alico's website is located at ir.alicoinc.com. The company's strategy focuses on maximizing shareholder value through identifying the highest and best use for its extensive land portfolio while emphasizing environmental stewardship and responsible land management practices.
