What Alto Neuroscience, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
Alto Neuroscience, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALTO) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to redefining psychiatry through precision medicine and personalized treatment approaches. The company's website is www.altoneuroscience.com.
Alto develops its product pipeline using a proprietary Precision Psychiatry Platform that leverages neurobiology and advanced data science to identify brain-based biomarkers that predict which patients are most likely to respond to specific treatments. This platform integrates neurocognitive assessments, electroencephalography (EEG) data, wearable device information, and genetic samples, employing machine learning and quantitative analytics to discover reproducible biomarkers suitable for clinical practice. The platform has been demonstrated across more than 70 clinical sites with over 2,000 participants.
The company's clinical-stage pipeline consists of seven assets addressing high-need psychiatric and neurological indications. ALTO-207, the most advanced program, is a fixed-dose combination of pramipexole and ondansetron being developed for treatment-resistant depression. ALTO-300, an agomelatine-based adjunctive treatment for major depressive disorder, is in Phase 2b trials with topline data expected in mid-2026. ALTO-100, targeting bipolar depression, and ALTO-101, a transdermal phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor for cognitive impairment associated with schizophrenia, are also in Phase 2b development. Additional programs include ALTO-203 for depression with anhedonia, ALTO-202 for major depressive disorder, and ALTO-208 for Parkinson's disease.
Founded in 2019, Alto operates with internal clinical operations and software development expertise, enabling simultaneous multi-study execution and cost efficiency. The company estimates its portfolio addresses potential opportunities across more than 25 million patients in the United States alone. Alto maintains a clinical-stage operational model focused on biomarker discovery and validation, with plans to selectively partner product candidates with global pharmaceutical companies to maximize value while potentially establishing internal commercial capabilities for targeted indications.
