What AMERICAN BATTERY TECHNOLOGY Co does

In the company’s own words

American Battery Technology Company (Nasdaq Capital Market: ABTC) operates as an integrated critical minerals manufacturing company focused on increasing domestic U.S. production of essential battery materials including lithium, nickel, cobalt, manganese, copper, aluminum, and graphite. The company pursues this mission through three complementary business approaches: exploration of primary mineral resources, development and commercialization of extraction technologies, and operation of an integrated lithium-ion battery recycling system. The company website is https://americanbatterytechnology.com/.

The company's core recycling operations center on a proprietary two-phase process featuring automated de-manufacturing followed by targeted chemical extraction. This system processes batteries across multiple form factors and cathode chemistries, separating components into constituent metals and black mass filter cake. The recycling facility in McCarran, Nevada represents the company's primary operating asset, with capacity to process spent lithium-ion batteries, manufacturing scrap, and black mass into battery-grade materials meeting high purity specifications required by cathode manufacturers.

Beyond recycling, American Battery Technology develops primary resource extraction capabilities, specifically targeting sedimentary claystone deposits near Tonopah, Nevada. The company has designed and operates a demonstration-scale facility for extracting lithium hydroxide using proprietary selective leaching processes that avoid traditional inefficient evaporation pond methods. This lithium extraction project received significant federal support through Department of Energy grants and cooperative agreements totaling over $200 million in combined funding and tax credits.

As of September 2026, the company employed 191 full-time and 4 part-time employees. The company generated its first revenue in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024 and reported revenue of approximately $18.8 million for fiscal year 2026, though the company remains unprofitable with accumulated deficits exceeding $333 million. The company's customer base remains concentrated, with five major customers accounting for approximately 86 percent of fiscal 2026 revenue. American Battery Technology competes with both alternative recycling processors employing high-temperature or shredding techniques and primary mineral producers globally distributed across multiple continents.
