The company pursues a credit-sensitive investment strategy centered primarily on newly-originated non-QM loans and other mortgage assets sourced from Angel Oak Mortgage Lending, an affiliated mortgage origination platform, and other originators through relationships with Angel Oak Capital. Angel Oak Mortgage REIT also invests in additional target assets including non-Agency residential mortgage-backed securities, commercial mortgage loans, Agency RMBS, second lien mortgage loans, construction loans, home equity lines of credit, and other mortgage-related instruments. The company finances its portfolio through loan financing lines and securitization transactions, employing leverage to enhance returns while maintaining prudent risk management practices.
As of December 31, 2025, the company maintained an approximately $2.7 billion portfolio of target assets consisting predominantly of residential mortgage loans owned directly, residential mortgage loans held in securitization trusts, and RMBS. Since commencing operations in September 2018 through year-end 2025, the company participated in 21 rated securitization transactions. The company completed its initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange in June 2021.
