What Anixa Biosciences Inc does
In the company’s own words
Anixa Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANIX) is a biotechnology company focused on developing therapies and vaccines addressing critical unmet needs in oncology. The company operates through its subsidiary Certainty Therapeutics, Inc., which is developing liraltagene autoleucel (lira-cel), a novel chimeric endocrine receptor-T cell therapy representing an innovative approach to CAR-T technology. Lira-cel is initially focused on treating ovarian cancer by engineering killer T cells with follicle stimulating hormone receptors to target cells expressing FSH-Receptor, a protein found on a large percentage of ovarian cancer cells but not significantly present on healthy adult female tissues.
Anixa's vaccine programs include development of a breast cancer vaccine targeting triple-negative breast cancer, an ovarian cancer vaccine targeting the anti-Mullerian hormone receptor 2 protein, and a vaccine discovery program exploring additional cancer vaccines for lung, colon, and prostate cancers. The company holds exclusive worldwide, royalty-bearing licenses from The Wistar Institute for its CAR-T technology and from Cleveland Clinic Foundation for its breast and ovarian cancer vaccine technologies. The breast cancer vaccine program is being conducted in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic, with a Phase 1 clinical trial that completed enrollment in June 2025 and all patient visits by October 2025. The ovarian cancer vaccine development is supported through the National Cancer Institute's PREVENT program, which provides scientific and financial resources requiring no material expenditures from the company.
As of October 31, 2025, Anixa had four full-time employees and worked with research teams at Moffitt Cancer Center and Cleveland Clinic, along with their subcontractors, to develop its programs. The company has not generated revenue from its therapeutics or vaccine programs to date and does not expect to do so in the near term. Anixa maintains an at-the-market equity offering program and had approximately $15.2 million in cash, cash equivalents, and short-term investments as of October 31, 2025.
