The company operates primarily through two business segments: proprietary product development and licensed product manufacturing and commercialization.
The company's core competitive advantage centers on its PharmFilm technology, an oral film delivery platform that enables non-invasive administration of complex pharmaceutical molecules. Aquestive has historically supplied the substantial majority of the world's oral films for prescription pharmaceutical use, having shipped more than two billion doses to patients worldwide. The PharmFilm platform offers clinical and therapeutic advantages including faster onset of action, ease of administration without device requirements, direct bloodstream absorption, and customizable delivery routes and taste profiles.
